Matus Succeeds Middleton At USAA Life

NU Online News Service, March 29, 2004, 5:23 p.m. EST – USAA, San Antonio, has named Kristi Matus president of its USAA Life Insurance Company unit.[@@]

Matus succeeds James Middleton, who has retired after serving as president of USAA Life for 4 years.

Matus has been vice president of products and regulatory management for USAA Life since 2002. She previously was chief operating officer of Thrivent Financial Bank, Appleton, Wis. She also has been a Medicare supplement actuary and product manager.

Matus has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh.
