NU Online News Service, Feb. 11, 2004, 3:47 p.m. EST – The former interim chief financial officer at Hartford Life is getting a new title.[@@]

Dave Carlson filled in as Hartford Life’s CFO on a temporary basis in 2003, but Hartford Financial Services Inc., Hartford, ended up picking Lizabeth Zlatkus to be the permanent CFO.

Now Harford Financial has named Carlson to be Hartford Life’s permanent deputy CFO. Carlson will be responsible for tax and expense management, external reporting to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and internal financial reporting and analysis, Hartford Financial says.

Carlson began working for Hartford Life in 1998 as the unit’s director of taxes. The company named him assistant vice president later that year.

Carlson has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Hartford. He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute.
