NU Online News Service, Feb. 4, 2004, 1:37 p.m. EST – A unit of MetLife Inc., New York, will be selling long term care insurance certified by the California Partnership for Long Term Care.[@@]

The partnership has approved an application by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company to sell group and individual LTC insurance through California employers.

Partnership LTC programs offer special provisions that coordinate state Medicaid LTC benefits with private LTC insurance benefits. The programs help consumers who buy private coverage come out ahead of consumers who can afford to buy private coverage but instead depend on the government to take care of all of their LTC needs.
