AAHP-HIAA: 63 Carriers Might Sell HSAs

NU Online News Service, Feb. 3, 2004, 5:41 p.m. EST – AAHP-HIAA, Washington, says 33 member carriers plan to offer the new health savings accounts.[@@]

Another 30 carriers are deciding whether to sell HSAs, AAHP-HIAA says.

The trade group also reports that 37 carriers will apply to offer Medicare drug discount cards and 31 other carriers are thinking about participating in the discount card program.

Congress included the provisions creating the HSA program and the Medicare drug discount card program in the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003.
