Swiss Re Opens Washington Office

NU Online News Service, Jan. 27, 2004, 1:30 p.m. EST – Swiss Re America Holding Corp., New York, has set up a Washington office.[@@]

Swiss Re is hoping the office will help it get closer to policymakers and policymaking associations.

The head of the office will be Cosette Simon, a senior vice president for government and industry relations.

Simon, a member of the Swiss Re board, began working for Swiss Re when Swiss Re acquired her former employer, the reinsurance division of Lincoln National Corp., Philadelphia, in 2001.

Simon is a former director of finance and administration for Fort Wayne, Ind., and she also has served as a budget official for former Indiana Gov. Evan Bayh. She has been active in the American Council of Life Insurers, Washington, and other insurance trade groups.

The address of the new Swiss Re Washington office is 101 Constitution Ave. N.W., Suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20001-2133.

Swiss Re America is a unit of Swiss Reinsurance Company, Zurich.
