Sun Life Assurance Merges With Keyport Life

NU Online News Service, Jan. 15, 2004, 5:32 p.m. EST – Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada (U.S.), Wellesley Hills, Mass., says it merged with a sister company, Keyport Life Insurance Company, Boston, Dec. 31, 2003.[@@]

When the companies merged, both were units of Sun Life Financial Services Inc., Toronto.

“The merger has no effect on the existing rights and benefits of policyholders or contract holders from either company,” Sun Life Assurance says in a report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Sun Life Assurance, the surviving company, will be licensed and authorized to write all the business that was being written by Keyport as well as the business that was being written by Sun Life Assurance, Sun Life Assurance says.
