NU Online News Service, Jan. 6, 2004, 3:49 p.m. EST – ING Groep N.V., Amsterdam, has combined 4 U.S. life insurance subsidiaries to form ING USA Annuity and Life Insurance Company.[@@]

The new unit’s state of domicile is Iowa, but the executive offices are in West Chester, Pa., according to a report that ING filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

ING created ING USA by folding Equitable Life Insurance Company of Iowa, USG Annuity & Life Company and United Life & Annuity Insurance Company into Golden American Life Insurance Company. ING then changed the name of Golden American to ING USA.

Before ING merged the subsidiaries, Equitable and United Life were domiciled in Iowa. USG was domiciled in Oklahoma, and Golden American was domiciled in Delaware.
