AIG Makes Kanak Vice Chairman, Co-COO

NU Online News Service, Dec. 4, 2003, 1:43 p.m. EST – American International Group Inc., New York, has picked Donald Kanak to be vice chairman and co-chief operating officer of AIG.[@@]

Kanak has been president of the AIG companies in Japan and Korea.

Kanak will be taking the place of Edmund Tse as a co-COO.

Tse, AIG senior vice chairman and head of AIG’s worldwide life insurance operations, will keep those titles and will continue to be a member of the AIG Office of the Chairman, but he now will focus on expanding AIG’s life businesses in Asia and in other countries, AIG says.

AIG’s other co-COO is Martin Sullivan.

In related news:

- Robert Clyde, COO of the AIG companies in Japan and Korea, will succeed Kanak as president of those companies.

- AIG Executive Vice President John Graf, head of AIG’s international retirement services unit, will assume additional responsibilities for AIG’s foreign group life and pension businesses.
