Bankers Life Names New Chief Executive

NU Online News Service, Nov. 21, 2003, 10:00 a.m. – James J. Kerwin will become president and chief executive officer of Bankers Life Insurance Company of New York, effective Jan. 1, according to an announcement from AmerUs Group Company, Woodbury, N.Y., parent company of Bankers Life.

Kerwin’s appointment follows the departure of Stephen J. Shorrock, the company’s president and chief executive officer since 1990.

Kerwin is currently senior vice president of AmerUs’s life insurance group’s individual administration business units in Des Moines, Indianapolis and New York. He also has served as senior vice president of operations for Bankers Life.
