MONTREAL (HedgeWorld.com)?Norshield Financial Group and National Life have teamed up once again and have launched the National Life Global Trading Fund.

According to a joint announcement, the new fund will offer clients better access to more innovative products. The fund itself will look to anticipate changes in global economies and make investment decisions based on those emerging trends.

National Life will offer the fund as part of its Hedge Accounts area to its universal life policyholders. The fund is expected to complement the National Life Multi-Strategy Fund, which was launched earlier this year . Norshield also will offer it to their clients.

?The Global Trading Fund is an excellent option for investors seeking consistent returns and security in today?s volatile markets,? said Brenda Moore, director of marketing, retirement and investment products at National Life, in a statement.

The fund is a segregated fund offered through National Life?s Alternative Investment Strategies. It carries a 75% capital guarantee and a low investment minimum requirement of C$1,000 (US$739). The investment manager [Norshield] will employ a variety of strategies that include: global currency, fixed-income, equity and commodity markets.

Norshield specializes in product creation, research and consulting in the alternative investment area. In July, the firm launched a fund of funds that is listed on the Irish Stock Exchange. The Univest Global Fund Ltd. is a Cayman Islands exempted company that started trading with US$132 million and is the first of several new funds that Norshield plans to launch over the coming months .
