Mutual Adds Hospital Insurance Policies

NU Online News Service, Oct. 7, 2003, 5:03 p.m. EST – Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company, Omaha, Neb., is now selling hospital insurance policies.

The policies pay benefits ranging from $500 to $2,000 per day for insureds who are in the hospital more than one day. Mutual will keep up the payments for up to 120 days, and insureds can use the cash however they want to use it.

Mutual is marketing the product as an alternative for the uninsured, self-employed individuals and other people who cannot afford conventional health insurance or want to supplement existing health coverage.

Mutual is selling the policies through career agents and brokerage agencies in Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Virginia.
