CAQH Names Rowe Chairman

NU Online News Service, Sept. 15, 2003, 1:28 p.m. EDT – The Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare, Washington, has named Dr. John Rowe to succeed Larry Glasscock as chairman.

Rowe is chairman of Aetna Inc., Hartford, and Glasscock is chairman of Anthem Inc., Indianapolis.

CAQH members also have picked Dr. Michael Stocker, president of WellChoice Inc., New York, to be chief financial officer of CAQH and chairman-elect; Charles Berg, president of Oxford Health Plans Inc., Trumbull, Conn., to be secretary; and Jay Gellert, president of HealthNet Inc., Woodland Hills, Calif., to be chairman of the CAQH administrative simplification committee.

CAQH is a nonprofit group that represents large U.S. managed care organizations. The group, founded in 1999, tries to find free-market strategies for resolving complaints by patients and physicians about the U.S. health finance system.
