NU Online News Service, Sept. 10, 2003, 4:25 p.m. EDT – The Southern California Minority Business Development Council, Los Angeles, is starting a health insurance program for certified minority businesses.

A participating company must be based in California or have at least 50% of its employees based in California, and only California employees can be insured under this program, the council says.

The council will be buying the insurance for the program through Insurance Clerk, Los Angeles. The firm is the largest minority-owned insurance brokerage and consulting firm in the United States, the council says.
