NU Online News Service, Aug. 19, 2003, 2:47 p.m. EDT – The federal government will be distributing “A Guide to Health Insurance” and “A Guide To Long-Term Care Insurance,” two brochures developed by the Health Insurance Association of America, Washington.

The General Service Administration added the HIAA brochures to its fall Consumer Information Catalogue.

Experts with the Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service, an arm of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, helped the HIAA revise the brochures to meet government standards.

The health insurance guide discusses the major forms of U.S. health insurance and also discusses medical savings accounts, flexible spending accounts and health reimbursement accounts.

The LTC insurance guide describes the product and explains why the government believes LTC insurance is important. The guide also gives information about shopping for LTC policies and includes a checklist to help consumers compare policies.
