Allmerica Hires Eppinger To Be President

NU Online News Service, Aug. 19, 2003, 5:37 p.m. EDT – Allmerica Financial Corp., Worcester, Mass., has hired Frederick Eppinger to be its president and chief executive.

Eppinger succeeds John O’Brien, who resigned as president in late 2002.

Michael Angelini, who has been Allmerica’s chairman, will continue to be the company’s chairman.

Eppinger previously was executive vice president of property-casualty field and service operations at Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford.

Eppinger also has worked as an accountant, as a financial institutions consultant and as a marketing vice president at a company that sells Web-based financial services distribution systems.

Eppinger has a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross and a master’s degree in business administration from Dartmouth. He holds the Certified Public Accountant professional designation.
