NU Online News Service, Aug. 11, 2003, 12:53 p.m. EDT – New York Life International is sponsoring a two-day seminar in Vietnam on Vietnam’s efforts to join the World Trade Organization.

The Ministry of Trade of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is hosting the seminar together with the U.S.-Vietnam Trade Council.

Gary Benanav, the chairman of New York Life International, will be one of the seminar participants.

New York Life International, an arm of New York Life Insurance Company, New York, also announced that it is giving the equivalent of $51,549 to Hanoi Medical University’s Vietnam Family Medicine Development Project in Vietnam’s Ba Vi district.

The family medicine project, which is a joint project of Vietnamese and U.S. health officials, will be using the donation to improve physician training in Vietnam and upgrade communal health centers in the Ba Vi district.

New York Life does not yet have business operations in Vietnam, but the company notes that it established a representative office in Hanoi in December 2000.
