Wachovia Insurance Hires Chief Operating Officer

NU Online News Service, July 14, 2003, 4:15 p.m. EDT – Wachovia Insurance Services, Winston-Salem, N.C., has hired Stewart McDowell to be its chief operating officer.

McDowell will manage agencies that sell employee benefits as well as property-casualty insurance.

McDowell previously was a regional executive at Willis Group Holdings Ltd., New York.

McDowell has a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in business from New York University.

Wachovia Insurance is a unit of Wachovia Corp., Charlotte, N.C.
