NU Online News Service, June 12, 2003, 4:25 p.m. EDT – GE Financial Employer Services Group, Enfield, Conn., has set up a team to help employers comply with the new federal health information privacy regulations and other regulations developed to implement the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.

The team has sent customers a HIPAA compliance checklist and a brief explaining the regulations.

The team also has posted HIPAA information on the Web. Visitors can reach the HIPAA section by going to http://www.gefinancialbenefits.com

Employers with less than $5 million in gross annual receipts can wait until 2004 to comply with the HIPAA privacy regulations, but employers with more than $5 million in annual receipts are already supposed to be complying, GE Financial Employer Services says.

GE Financial Employer Services is part of the General Electric Company, Fairfield, Conn.
