NU Online News Service, June 9, 2003, 11:41 a.m. EDT – WellChoice Inc., New York, has expanded eligibility for its Direct POS point-of-service discount plan.

WellChoice, the parent company of Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, is now offering the Direct POS plan to employers with more than 50 employees. Employers will have a choice of 14 co-pay and coinsurance options.

In April, the company introduced a version for employers with two to 50 employees.

Employees who have a POS plan can choose between using basic, health maintenance organization services or paying extra to use out-of-network doctors, clinics and hospitals.
