NU Online News Service, June 2, 2003, 12:43 p.m. EDT – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, Providence, R.I., has completed previously announced plans to hire Perot Systems Corp., Plano, Texas, to manage its information systems and back-office operations.
The 10-year contract has a value of about $570 million, Perot Systems says.
Perot Systems has hired 600 Rhode Island Blue employees to carry out the contract, and it will be using its DIAMOND Enterprise software system and other systems to handle claims, membership administration, cash disbursements and other tasks.
