Delta Consortium Names Two Chief Operating Officers

The Delta consortium has promoted Belinda Martinez to chief operating officer for Delta Dental insurance Company.

Martinez has been acting as the chief operating officer of PMI Dental Health Plan, a prepaid dental plan affiliated with the Delta consortium, and she will continue to hold that position while running the Georgia-based affiliate, the Delta consortium says.

Martinez has a master’s degree in business from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in biostatistics from Loma Linda University.

The Delta dental plan system plays roughly the same role in the dental insurance market that the Blue Cross and Blue Shield system plays in the major medical market. The Delta consortium led by California Delta provides or administers coverage for 20 million of the 45 million U.S. residents who have Delta system dental coverage.
