AMERIGROUP Hires President

NU Online News Service, April 22, 2003, 10:27 a.m. EDT – AMERIGROUP Corp., Virginia Beach, Va., has hired James Carlson to be president and chief operating officer.

Carlson is filling a new position. Jeffrey McWaters will continue to be AMERIGROUP’s chairman and chief executive, the company says.

Carlson previously was executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn. He also has worked for the managed care operations at Prudential Financial Inc., Newark, N.J., and he founded a large physician group practice management company.

AMERIGROUP specializes in administering health programs for government agencies that serve the poor.
