NU Online News Service, April 17, 11:55 a.m. – The Alabama Department of Insurance will hold a public hearing May 6 at its offices in Montgomery on its proposed new standards for safeguarding customer information.

Based upon a model regulation issued by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Kansas City, Mo., the proposed rule would establish standards for insurers doing business in the state to safeguard customer information, in compliance with the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999.
