NU Online News Service, April 16, 10:45 a.m. – Aetna Life Insurance Company, Hartford, Conn., says it has improved the portability features of its group supplemental life insurance product, increasing the maximum coverage employees can convert to an individual plan and adding other features.

Aetna increased the maximum allowable coverage that employees can change to an individual plan when they leave their employer to $500,000, from $300,000. In addition, it now offers the portability feature to retiring employees, allowing them to continue their supplemental group life insurance coverage.

Among other changes, the company raised the eligibility age for the portability feature from age 74 to 98 and hiked the limiting age to 99 from age 75.
