Janus Adds Managers to Three Funds

April 3, 2003 — Three Janus Capital Management analysts have been promoted to portfolio manager and will help oversee three of its stock mutual funds, the company said.

Andy Acker will join the Janus Global Life Sciences Fund (JAGLX), Matt Ankrum will help run Janus Strategic Value Fund (JSVAX), and Douglas Kirkpatrick will help pilot Janus Worldwide Fund (JAWWX).

Acker, who joins Tom Malley on the Global Life Sciences fund, has analyzed biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical technologies companies since coming to Janus in 1999.

Ankrum will help David Decker manage the Strategic Value fund. Ankrum worked in the fixed income research and corporate finance departments at William Blair & Co. and Conseco Inc (CNCEQ) before joining Janus in 1996.

Kirkpatrick will assist Helen Young Hayes and Laurence Chang in running the Worldwide fund. Kirkpatrick has worked with the teams responsible for Janus’s international funds since joining the company in 2001. Previously, he was an analyst with Artisan Partners, an investment firm. He also worked as an environmental environmental engineer with Kellogg Brown & Root, a unit of Halliburton Co (HAL).
