NU Online News Service, March 21, 2003, 12:51 p.m. EST – Medco Health Solutions Inc., Franklin Lakes, N.J., has hired David Snow Jr. to be its president and chief executive officer.

Medco, a pharmacy benefits manager, is a unit of Merck & Company Inc., Whitehouse Station, N.J. Merck has announced plans to turn Medco into a separate company sometime this year.

Snow will succeed Richard Clark, who will keep the position of chairman of Medco during a transition period, Medco says.

Snow previously was president of Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield, New York. He also has been an executive vice president at Oxford Health Plans Inc., Trumbull, Conn.

Snow has a bachelor’s degree in science and economics from Bates College and a master’s degree in health care administration from Duke University.
