NU Online News Service, March 21, 2003, 10:53 a.m. EST – Annuity and Life Re (Holdings) Ltd., Hamilton, Bermuda, has written to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to withdraw a securities registration statement the company filed March 1, 2002.

The troubled life and annuity reinsurer had once hoped to use the registration statement to issue up to $200 million in debt. But Annuity and Life no longer wants to have the registration statement declared effective, and it has not sold any securities connected with the registration statement, the company says.
