NU Online News Service, March 20, 2003, 2:27 p.m. EST umana Inc., Louisville, Ky., has started selling two new individual health plans, the College Graduate Health Plan and the Pre-Employment Health Plan, in Colorado, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Customers who buy the plans can keep the coverage indefinitely, but Humana will compete with sellers of short-term plans by lowering the premiums for the first 185 days that the policies are in effect, the company says.

The maximum discount for the college plan is 35%, and the maximum discount for the pre-employment plan is 23%.

Humana says it can underwrite applications for individuals without an extensive medical history in about one hour.

The plans offer a $5 million per person lifetime maximum, a pharmacy benefit and several deductible options. They also offer access to a preferred-provider network.
