Michigan Commissioner Leaves Position

NU Online News Service, Feb. 21, 4:05 p.m. – Michigan Financial and Insurance Services Commissioner Frank Fitzgerald says he is leaving his position today.

Fitzgerald became the first commissioner of the agency in April 2000, when it was created out of separate state departments for regulating state financial services, including banks, credit unions, insurance, securities and consumer lending. Previously, he was the Michigan insurance commissioner.

Fitzgerald had represented Eaton County as a Republican in the Michigan House of Representatives for 12 years. Earlier, he was an Eaton County assistant prosecuting attorney.
