NU Online News Service, Feb. 19, 3:41 p.m. – Sun Life Financial Services of Canada Inc., Toronto, has hired Robert Salipante to be president of its U.S. unit, Sun Life Financial U.S., Wellesley, Mass.
Salipante will succeed James McNulty III, who is retiring but will remain on the company board.
Salipante became president of Reliastar Financial Corp., Minneapolis, in 1999. He later became president of the U.S. financial services operations of ING Groep N.V., Amsterdam, after ING acquired Reliastar in 2001.
Salipante has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
