NU Online News Service, Feb. 7, 3:46 p.m. – National Account Service Company L.L.C., Atlanta, has introduced the Consumer’s Choice program, a prepackaged defined-contribution health plan program.

NASCO, a company that processes claims for many Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies, will handle administration, and the Blues companies can sell plans based on the program to local and national employers, NASCO says.

The program combines high-deductible health insurance with access to preferred provider discounts, an individual spending account and Web-based tools for managing the account.

Companies that are already using or hoping to use the program include Anthem Inc., Indianapolis, and CareFirst Inc., Owings Mills, Md., NASCO says.
