NU Online News Service, Jan. 23, 12:26 p.m. – Prudential Financial Inc., Newark, N.J., says its retirement services unit is starting to roll out a personalized participant education service.

The service will use information about participants to send them messages designed to fit their specific needs.

A new participant who invested all assets in a money-market fund, for example, would receive an educational message explaining the effects of inflation and the concept of asset allocation.

A long-term participant might get messages about distributions and investment options at retirement, Prudential says.

Prudential will also provide general, printed retirement planning guides that include each plan sponsor’s name, logo, slogans and artwork as part of the booklet design. Some of the information will also be available on the Web.
