SafeGuard Acquires California Dental HMO

NU Online News Service, Jan. 17, 9:52 a.m. – SafeGuard Health Enterprises Inc., Aliso Viejo, Calif., has agreed to buy the Southern California-based dental health maintenance organization subsidiary of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp., Lincoln, Neb.

In related news, Ameritas, a unit of The Ameritas Acacia Companies, Lincoln, has agreed to sell SafeGuard dental HMO coverage along with its own dental preferred-provider and dental indemnity plans.

Ameritas says it is selling its Southern California dental HMO unit because it wants to focus more on running preferred-provider and indemnity plans.

The price of the deal and other terms were not disclosed.
