Tech Worker Loyalty Grows

NU Online News Service, Jan. 13, 12:52 p.m. – Two studies released today by the consulting arm of Aon Corp., Chicago, suggest that the U.S. and Canadian technology workers who still have jobs are far more loyal than tech workers used to be.

Aon began measuring loyalty in 1997 by using surveys to compile a “Workforce Commitment Index.” The U.S. index stands at 106.9 and the Canadian index at 103.6. Both figures have gone up from the original benchmark level of 100.

Although tech workers are now more committed to their employers, they complain that management lacks credibility, exposes them to unreasonable levels of stress, and fails to pay them enough or take enough other steps to value their talent, Aon says.
