NU Online News Service, Jan. 8, 11:23 a.m. – Fear of losing health insurance can be a deterrent to entrepreneurship, according to a survey by Lieberman Research Worldwide, Los Angeles.

When the researchers who conducted the survey, which was sponsored by Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, interviewed would-be entrepreneurs, they found that 77% had not yet struck out on their own because they were worried about lack of financial resources.

Fifty-four percent of the survey participants held back because of the need for a steady paycheck, fear of failure or uncertainty about how to get started.

But 47% of the participants reported they had not yet formed businesses because of fear of losing health and disability benefits.
