NU Online News Service, Dec. 27, 10:06 a.m. – MetLife Inc., New York, has sold the New England Financial building at 501 Boylston St., Boston, to Beacon Capital Partners L.L.C., Boston.

MetLife will lease back the building, but it says it will begin moving the operations of its New England Financial unit out in about a year.

The price and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

MetLife says it will continue to support the New England Financial brand name as a separate brand name and keep the unit’s headquarters in the Boston area.

John Hancock Financial Services Inc., Boston, announced plans in November to sell and lease back three headquarters buildings that are located a few blocks from the New England Financial building.
