Guardian Gives Execs New Responsibilities

NU Online News Service, Dec. 11, 12:22 p.m. – The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, New York, has promoted Thomas Sorell to executive vice president, chief investment officer and president of The Park Avenue Portfolio mutual fund family.

Sorell previously was head of Guardian’s fixed income department. He is succeeding Frank Jones, who is retiring.

Guardian has given Gary Lenderink, another executive vice president, responsibility for all risk management products, and given Bruce Long, a third executive vice president, responsibility for Park Avenue Securities L.L.C. and Guardian Trust Company F.S.B.

Long also serves as president of Guardian Investor Services L.L.C. and executive vice president of The Guardian Insurance & Annuity Company Inc.

Dennis Callahan, chief information officer, was promoted to executive vice president. He will now handle building services as well as information technology.
