NU Online News Service, Dec. 10, 5:08 p.m. – Aetna Inc., Hartford, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a mail-order pharmacy operation in Kansas City, Mo., from Eckerd Corp., Pittsburgh.
The price of the deal and other terms were not immediately available.
Aetna says it plans to begin shifting its fully insured customers to the Eckerd mail-order service from a mail-order service run by Express Scripts Inc., St. Louis, early in 2003. Aetna announced the move away from the Express Scripts service in October.
