NU Online News Service, Nov. 15, 5:48 p.m. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C., is reporting $34 million in net income for the third quarter on $740 million in revenue, up from $13 million in net income on $474 million in revenue for the third quarter of 2001.

Revenue increased in part because North Carolina Blue’s results now include the results for PARTNERS National Health Plans of North Carolina Inc., Winston-Salem, N.C., the operator of one of North Carolina’s largest health maintenance organization plans. North Carolina Blue acquired PARTNERS in the fourth quarter of 2001.
