Oct. 2, 2002 — Turner Funds said portfolio manager James Hammerschmidt has left the company.

A Turner spokesman declined to comment on why Hammerschmidt left the firm, nor on the fund manager’s future plans.

A team of managers is continuing to run the New Energy and Power Technology fund (TNEPX), which Hammerschmidt was lead manager on, the company said.

Also, portfolio manager Robb Parlanti replaced Hammerschmidt this week on the teams that oversee Turner Funds Disciplined Large Cap Growth (TSGEX), Turner Funds Global Top 40 (TGTFX), and the Large Cap Growth Opportunities Fund (TLGCX), Turner said.

Parlanti, like Hammerschmidt, is a growth-oriented manager, the spokesman said, adding that the investment style of the funds Hammerschmidt helped run will not change.
