NU Online News Service, Oct. 4, 4:52 p.m. – Mid-America Health, Kansas City, Mo., is withdrawing from the Medicare health maintenance organization program.
The withdrawal will affect 23,000 Mid-America members in the Kansas City area, according to the Missouri Department of Insurance.
Mid-America is closing the Medicare HMO operation as a result of its pending acquisition by Coventry Health Care Inc., Bethesda, Md.
