NU Online News Service, Sept. 30, 4:28 p.m. – EHealthInsurance Services Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., a Web-based insurance broker, says its customers are paying about as much for individual and family coverage now as they were paying six months ago, contradicting reports that premiums have skyrocketed.

The benefits delivered by the new plans are comparable to the benefits available six months ago, eHealthInsurance adds.

When eHealthInsurance looked at coverage purchases by 30,000 of its customers over the past six months, it found that the average premium for a single person (average age 32) was $155.90 per month.

For a family of two or more, the average premium was $324.92 a month.

More than 91% of the customers selected minimal co-pays under $30, and 67% have an annual deductible between $500 and $1000, eHealthInsurance says.
