Highmark Names Melani President

NU Online News Service, Sept. 25, 1:19 p.m. – Highmark Inc., Camp Hill, Pa., a managed care company, says its board has named Dr. Kenneth Melani president and chief executive officer.

Melani will succeed John Brouse, who expects to retire at the end of the year.

John Shaffer will continue to be the company’s chairman.

Melani, who joined Highmark in 1989 as a corporate medical director, has been the company’s executive vice president for strategic business development. Melani has also been the owner of a private practice in internal medicine.

Melani has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Washington and Jefferson College and a medical degree from Wake Forest University. He is board certified in internal medicine.
