Transamerica Re To Open Mexico City Office

NU Online News Service, Sept. 24, 4:05 p.m. – Transamerica Reinsurance, Charlotte, N.C., has received permission from the Mexican government to open a representative office for Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance Company in Mexico City.

The office will help Transamerica Re with sales and servicing of life reinsurance arrangements in Mexico, the company says.

Transamerica has named Doroteo Ramirez to run the operations in Mexico and Graciela Piera to be an underwriting consultant.

Ramirez, who has had 23 years of experience with General Cologne Re, is the founding president of the Mexican Underwriters Association for Private Insurance, Mexico City.

Piera has had 24 years of experience in Mexico City with Lincoln Re, a unit once owned by Lincoln Financial Corp., Fort Wayne, Ind.
