CIGNA Hires Two, Promotes One

NU Online News Service, Sept. 13, 11:13 a.m. – CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, says its group insurance unit has hired two new regional general managers and created a national distribution development position.

The company has promoted Stephen Ruel to general manager of the Central region and Dave Rather to general manager of the Eastern region.

Ruel previously was vice president of sales for the Central region of Colonial Supplemental Insurance, a unit of UnumProvident Corp., Portland, Maine. He will be based in Columbia, S.C.

Rather, who used to be Colonial’s vice president of sales for the Eastern region, will be based in Rye, N.H.

Robert Brickweg will continue be the general manager for the CIGNA Group Insurance Western region.

CIGNA has picked Cathy Grimes to be its first head of group insurance distribution development. Grimes is a former CIGNA regional general manager.
