Mercator Updates Communications Software

NU Online News Service, Sept. 10, 10:15 a.m. – Mercator Software Inc., Wilton, Conn., has released Version 2.1 of its Healthcare Integration Package.

Health insurers and other health care organizations can use the software to handle health data communications.

The latest version adds features for complying with new electronic transaction standards developed in connection with the Health Insurance Portability and Accounting Act of 1996. The standards take effect October 2003.

HCIP v2.1 comes with new verification features for compliance with the official HIPAA implementation guide; tools for debugging data communications; and new HIPAA draft standards released in August, including changes to the Health Care Claim Status Request and Response, Health Care Services Review, and Health Care Claims standards.
