NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com)–Hedge fund manager Ibis Management LLC recently hired formed Ivory Capital portfolio manager Jeffrey Meyers as a principal.

Mr. Meyers will serve as a portfolio manager for Ibis Management’s US$11 million hedge fund portfolio, which focuses on U.S. equity opportunities within the technology, telecom and life sciences sectors, according to Jacob Burgida, chief operating officer for Ibis.

The post that Mr. Meyer stepped into at the beginning of September is newly created. His focus will be on finding investment opportunities in Ibis’ chosen sectors, which have seen significant market turbulence of late, according to Mr. Burgida.

The firm manages the U.S.-based Ibis Capital LP fund and the Cayman-domiciled Ibis International Ltd. fund. Both funds make investment decisions based on company fundamentals, starting with a bottom-up analysis of fair value of a given security.

A chartered financial accountant, Mr. Meyers had also worked previously at New York-based SC Fundamental LLC with value-investor Joseph D’Ambrosio before joining Ivory Capital, also based in Manhattan.
