NU Online News Service, Sept. 3, 2:12 p.m. –The Financial Institutions Insurance Association, Valley Center, Calif., will hold its fall conference Oct. 27-29 in Chicago.
Nathaniel Shapo, director of the Illinois Department of Insurance, will be a guest speaker, the association says.
Shapo, who heads the functional regulation working group at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Kansas City, Mo., will talk about the battle between state regulators and the federal Office of the Comptroller of the Currency over the OCC’s attempts to preempt some state laws governing bank sales of insurance.
