Fortis Promotes Cutler And Hamm

NU Online News Service, Aug. 19, 3:15 p.m. – Fortis Inc., New York, is promoting Ben Cutler to executive vice president of Fortis Inc. and chairman of the company's Fortis Health subsidiary.

Cutler, who has been president and chief executive of Fortis Health since 1996, will be in charge of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures of company operations. He will also continue to oversee Fortis Health.

Cutler is now the vice chair of the Health Insurance Association of America, Washington, and he will take over as chair in 2003.

Don Hamm, who has been chief financial officer of Fortis Health since 1999, will succeed Cutler as president of Fortis Health Sept. 1 and succeed Cutler as chief executive of Fortis Health Jan. 1, 2003.
