July 23, 2002 — Numeric Investors re-opened NI Numeric Investors Small Cap Value Fund (NISVX) to new investors.

The fund, currently with $114 million in assets, was closed to new investors on March 28, but now has “more capacity,” according to Numeric, with the market’s recent decline.

Co-managed by Arup Datta and Jerry Campbell, NI Numeric Investors Small-Cap Value returned 23.5% annualized, versus 10.6% for the average small-cap value fund for the three years ended in June. The portfolio is ranked 5 Stars by Standard & Poor’s.

NI Numeric Investors Small-Cap Value is not the only top-performing fund to reopen this month due to the market’s downturn.

Kornitzer Capital Management reopened Buffalo Small Cap Fund (BUFSX), citing its reduced base and an increase in the number of attractively priced stocks.

Wasatch Funds also reversed a decision to close its Wasatch Ultra Growth Fund (WAMCX) to new investors. Both portfolios are ranked 5 Stars by Standard & Poor’s.
